Haiti Recycling S.A. (also known as G.S. Industries) is the only company in Haiti registered with the Bureau of International Recycling as an accredited Gold member and also as an ISRI Member.

It is a family business founded by Mr. Gary Sajous Sr. in 1976. As the recycling operation only grew larger, starting with only non-ferrous metals like aluminum in 1986, we are now proud to say that our domain of expertise and knowledge involves recycling of ferrous metals as well as plastics, paper and cardboard.

Haiti Recycling has continuously invested in infrastructure and economies of scale for plastic processing. The processing of plastic on Haitian soil is what makes us pioneers in the Recycling Industry.

We have taken up recycling of plastics bottles to another level, as we segregate, wash, grind, and finally dry them. The plastic flakes we obtain are shipped out to be turned into textiles and much more.

THE EMPOWERMENT OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Haiti Recycling believes in empowering a community by being the stimulant for the rise of small entreupreneurship cells.

The main idea is that the company does not organize recovery nor uses municipal collection of the waste and scrap materials. All the scrap brought to our plant is duely weighted before it is bought. The incentive is that pricing varies according to quantity, segregation and type of material.

Every scrap seller is their own entrepeuneur. They organize themselves in small independent cells that collect scrap from shanty towns, to camps throughout not only port au prince but the provinces also. For the ones who have more experience in this business they acquire the know how of the segregation process of all the differents materials.

We are open to any partnership and Appeal to Government Bodies for them to participate in our initiatives to:

• Organize a better system of waste collection in order to Reduce the amount of waste scattered throughout the country and eliminate savage landfills; By creating clean and green surroundings we help promote higher standards of health and hygiene.

• Educate the younger ones about the impact of waste on the environment and the crucial importance of recycling and segregation of waste.
