Who is Asus Rent-A-Car?

Asus Rent-A-Car is a reliable and successful car rental company, located at Delmas 33 #8 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Asus offers well-maintained rental vehicles at competitive rates, backed up by personal customer service.

Our History

When we arrived in Port-au-Prince in March 2011, my partner and I were in need of a rental car. After doing our research, visiting offices of major car rental franchises, comparing rates from the internet, and calling individuals that were renting their cars through the classified ads; we still failed to find a company offering fair pricing, quality vehicles, and satisfactory customer service. As a matter of fact, it was a big surprise to us experiencing firsthand the lack of customer service displayed from some of these rental car companies in the capital in particular and the country in general. We concluded there must be other visitors in need of a rental car, having same expectation of finding a quality rental car and subject to similar bad experience. In hindsight, this was the seed that sowed the present concept at Asus. As of the beginning of 2012, we operate a fleet of over 10 rental vehicles and plan on adding more to accommodate an ever-growing number of repeat clients – most of whom we know by name. A good start for company in its first year.

Why Haiti?

Our first impression of Haiti was that of a troubled country with political instability and deep financial problems. The country had a new government and progress was being made. But what sold us the most on opening our business was that Haiti is surrounded by friendly people, beautiful secluded beaches and high scenic mountains – all waiting to be explore. And in the coming or going out of Haiti we could see that half of the passengers in the plane are foreigners, they are not tourists yet, but still potential clients. So, we realize not only the country is open for business, but the revival of the tourism industry is imminent. After the 2010 earthquake I was looking for a way to help my country, so my partner and I decided to start the company. We knew if successful we'll be able to create new job and also donate to the community.

Unlike other rental companies, we add no additional fees at the counter; such as airport charges or additional driver fees. With us, you will receive a cell phone with every rental, complimentary when you need contact us for assistance, a free baby seat (why pay for it), and a cooler to keep your beverages cold. If you wish to use the supplied cell phone for personal calls you can just add minutes to it or ask us to fill it for you. We guarantee that your vehicle is equipped for your needs, like a child seat and cooler for the hot summer days. All these extras are free, so your trip is safe and comfortable. How we offer such competitive rates?

Compare our prices with other established car rental companies, our rates are up to 40% less. Cars are almost twice as costly to purchase & maintain as in most industrialized countries, since they are subject to 50 - 80 percent import tariffs. We can offer such savings because we purchase late model, pre-owned, high quality vehicles, which are maintained continuously by our staff of highly trained & qualified mechanics. Every vehicle receives a thorough inspection and preventive maintenance before each rental. We pass our acquisition savings on to our customers. We hope that our customers will be satisfied and pass-on their positive impression to family, friends and acquaintances. So far, this concept is working.
